Thank you Peter Gilgan Foundation for Supporting our 24/7 Crisis Response Service!

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the Peter Gilgan Foundation for their $20,000 grant to support our 24/7 Crisis Response Service. This grant and our Crisis Service are a natural fit given the Foundation’s mission to improve the lives of children and families by empowering initiatives that help the world transition to a more healthy, prosperous, and sustainable future

Speaking of this support, Stephanie Trussler, Executive Chair, said, “The Peter Gilgan Foundation is proud to support EveryMind in their mission to provide accessible, strengths-based mental health services tailored to the unique needs of young people. Their commitment to empowering youth and families aligns with our goal to equip children, youth, and families with the skills, resources, and opportunities to reach their full potential.”

The Peter Gilgan Foundation supports youth mental health by funding accessible, culturally appropriate clinical interventions delivered by accredited professionals, aiming to eliminate financial barriers and provide early support within community settings.

EveryMind’s 24/7 Crisis Response Service provides support to children and youth experiencing a mental health crisis that is not life-threatening but would benefit from a supportive response. Crises may include feeling depressed, worried, and/or experiencing suicidal thoughts. Parents or caregivers can also call if they are concerned about a child’s safety or behaviour.

When asked about the need for the service, Kyle Martin, who is a member of our Crisis Response team, said, “Let’s be honest: being a teenager is not, and has never been, an easy task. From developmental and physiological changes to increased independence to societal challenges and expectations, teenagers have the difficult task of learning about the world around them while simultaneously navigating their way through it. Ideally, these teenagers have a support system to help guide them through this journey whether that be parents, grandparents, teachers, or other caregivers. However, there are times where young people are left to experience these years with minimal guidance before they are emotionally and physically prepared. As a crisis service that prides itself on providing inclusive support to all children, teens, and families, the EveryMind Crisis Team creates a circle of support for these teenagers and acts as that guide to meet them where they are and support them with remaining safe and navigating the journey to adulthood.”
