Director at Large – Board of Directors (Volunteer position)

EveryMind is seeking a passionate individual to join our Board of Directors. As a Board Director, you will help shape the strategic direction of the organization, ensure effective governance, and advance our goal to enhance the mental health of infants, children, youth, young adults, and their families.

The Opportunity

As a Board Director, you will:

  • Guide strategic goals and ensure alignment with community needs.
  • Oversee creation of policies and standards that shape operations.
  • Evaluate the CEO’s performance and ensure standards are met.
  • Represent EveryMind to stakeholders and the broader community.
  • Support effective governance through self-monitoring and process improvement.

Qualifications

We are seeking candidates with:

  • Commitment to EveryMind’s mission and vision.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • The ability to dedicate 3–5 hours per month for board activities.
  • Diverse perspectives and lived experiences are strongly encouraged.
  • Experience in the education sector and/or nonprofit leadership a plus.

Want to get involved in your community in a fun and rewarding way? Our community partner Smilezone is looking for friendly volunteers over the age of 18 to sell 50/50 tickets at the Toronto Rock 50/50 home games at the Paramount Centre in Mississauga! Help raise funds in support of EveryMind’s mission, while enjoying the game and connecting with others.

A registered charity in Oakville, Ontario, Smilezone transforms hospital and healthcare spaces to make them more comforting and fun for children and families, adding vibrant colors, engaging murals, sensory tools, and more to brighten their day. All proceeds from the Toronto Rock 50/50 season (Dec 2024 – April 2025) will go directly towards the upcoming Smilezone projects.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • Educating the community on Smilezone Foundation’s mission
  • Selling 50/50 tickets at the Toronto Rock Lacrosse games
  • Operating electronic 50/50 technology
  • Collecting funds and distributing 50/50 tickets to buyers

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Friendly, outgoing and calm demeanor
  • Ability to work well in a small group
  • Comfortable learning and using new technology
  • Basic math skills

Requirements:

  • MUST be 18+ years old to apply
    • OLG Licensing Act requires anyone selling or buying lottery tickets to be 18+ years of age.
  • Have access to transportation to and from the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga, Ontario
  • Provide a copy of a valid government ID (drivers licence, health card or passport)

Time Commitment

Smilezone Foundation will be hosting 9 50/50 games this season (December 2024 to April 2025). We are seeking volunteers who are interested in attending 50% or more of the games. The overall time commitment per game is 4-6 hours.
