April 23, 2024

MISSISSAUGA – EveryMind Mental Health Services, the provincially designated lead agency for child and youth mental health in Peel, was recently accredited with commendation under the QMentum Global™ program of Accreditation Canada.

“Congratulations to Team EveryMind on this well-deserved result, which is a testament to the commitment, ethics, and passion of the entire organization,” said Nainesh Kotak, President, Board of Directors. “Thanks as well to the Peel community who supported our accreditation journey.”

EveryMind was fully accredited under other programs for more than 30 years, but this was the agency’s first accreditation under Accreditation Canada’s rigorous Qmentum Global™ program, with criteria across core standards of governance, leadership, medication management, infection prevention and control, and service excellence, as well as sector-specific standards for community-based mental health services and supports, and child, youth, and family services. In total, EveryMind achieved 94.6% of the 650 applicable criteria.

In their report, the team that conducted EveryMind’s recent onsite survey recognized EveryMind’s commitment to safety and continuous quality improvement in undertaking this first Qmentum survey. Examples of the surveyors’ comments included:

“The governing body of EveryMind is passionate about the mission of the organization and champions clients and staff.”

“The EveryMind Leadership Team is commended for impressive community partnerships, … [which] are bridging service gaps, creating collaborative approaches in care and providing opportunities to share knowledge and information critical to planning and service delivery.”

“The organization is highly commended for the considerable steps taken to meaningfully engage youth and families,” and “for initiating progressive approaches, including the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy, the WhereToStart coordinated access and intake, human resources strategies and infrastructure advancements.”

“This was an incredible result for our first Qmentum accreditation process, reflecting many months of hard work during a pandemic to raise the bar for EveryMind’s commitment to continuous quality improvement,” said Ceri Harnden, EveryMind’s Chief Executive Officer. “It is a tribute to our staff, who are committed to providing exceptional services for our clients and their families.”

EveryMind has served the Peel community since 1985, providing a broad range of mental health services and related supports for children, youth, and their families. In its 2022-23 fiscal year, EveryMind provided over 7,600 services to more than 5,500 unique clients. With a global budget of $27.5 million and a staffing complement of 250, EveryMind is funded by the Province of Ontario, the Regional Municipality of Peel, and the generous support of donors.
